2024 Attendance Zone Committee

  • At the February 19, 2025 school board meeting, the Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees approved updated attendance zones in preparation for opening Jarrell Ranch Middle School. The new zones ensure a balanced distribution of middle school students across the district, reduce overcrowding, enhance student access, and support future growth. The zones were drafted by a committee.

In the fall of 2024, Jarrell ISD put out a call for parents, staff, and stakeholders to participate in the Attendance Zone Committee. In preparation for the opening of Jarrell Ranch Middle School, the district has to examine and update its attendance zones. The committee was given a timeline and met several times over the next few months.

The committee, comprised of parents, community members, and staff, studied attendance data, analyzed the locations of future subdivisions, and student capacity. The committee devised four separate plans. Once the plans were drafted, the committee decided Plans 1 and 2 wouldn't support long-term needs. Plans 3 and 4 were presented for the community to vote on December 18, 2024. After reviewing those results, the committee decided to create a fifth plan. On January 10, 2025, Plans 3,4 and 5 were presented to the community for another vote. The community overwhelmingly supported Plan 5, which the school board approved.

The new zones ensure a balanced distribution of middle school students across the district, reduce overcrowding, enhance student access, and support future growth. The attendance zones will start in the 2025 - 26 school year.
