- Igo Elementary School
- Welcome
Our Library
-
Hello, I'm Jennifer Spiegelhauer, proud Librarian at Igo Elementary. Our library is a wonderful and exciting place to be! Students come to the library weekly with their class or when they are scheduled by their teacher on a flexible schedule. Students may come to the library at any time during the school day to get a library book.
Along with providing students with fantastic books to read, the library supports the school in many ways:- We conduct research using online digital resources.
- We conduct author studies across the grades, Pre K through 5th.
- We have age-appropriate technology lessons and learn Digital Citizenship.
- We participate in literature book clubs.
- We have story times weekly where we dance with scarves, sing, and read books.
- We celebrate important events like Hispanic Heritage Month, Dia de los Libros, Native American Month, Lunar New Year and Black History Month.
- We provide training for teachers and students in technology, programs, and new resources.
- We schedule special STEM/STEAM lessons focusing on engineering, math and science.
- We provide equal learning opportunities and provide resources for the students and staff across the curriculum.
- We celebrate new literature by studying the TLA 2x2’s and Bluebonnets each year.
- We have special events like the Storybook Potato Patch.
We host two book fairs a year; one in the spring and one in the fall.
If you would like to volunteer at anytime throughout the school year, please contact Mrs. Spiegelhauer. We could always use your help and it is greatly appreciated!
